Michigan State University - Diagnostic Exam

2.11

  •   The line through the point (2, 4) with slope 1-
2 has y-intercept = (?).

    a) 2 b) 0 c) 1 d) 3 e) 4

Solution:
There is enough information to construct the equation. Thus y-4=0.5(x - 2) ⇒ y = 0.5x - (0.5)(2) + 4 ⇒ the y-intercept is 3.
