Basic teaching assignments fulfill the department funding requirements, but may not be sufficient in providing teaching experiences that prepare GTAs for future roles as faculty members.

Possible basic teaching assignments include leading recitations for the following courses:

• MTH 124
• MTH 133
• MTH 234
• MTH 235

Teaching Responsibilities

All recitation instructors are required to fulfill the following duties:

• Coordinate recitation plans with the course lecturer for each class meeting
• Arrive to teach at least 5 minutes before the beginning of every class
• Author and grade quizzes and exams (varies from course to course)
• Hold weekly office hours (1 per week in the FS and SS)
• Grade exams
